You will find on this website Katherine\u2019s life story, Committee members, photographs plus information about our annual Study Day, Saturday 9th May 2026 being held this year.<\/p>\n

Plus a warm and fitting tribute by Glen James on the life of Dr Roger Joy, who he regarded as his 2nd<\/sup> father, founder of The Katherine Swynford Society in 1983.<\/p>\n

In the 1990\u2019s Dr Roger Joy published the first issue of \u2018The Katherine Wheel\u2019 and this Journal continues to this day for MEMBERS of the Society. Produced on May 10th<\/sup> recognised as Katherine\u2019s death and November 25th<\/sup> St Katherine\u2019s day but her actual date of birth is unknown.\u00a0 Both online and hard copies are available depending on which is chosen when joining the Society.<\/p>\n

There are literally thousands and thousands of descendents in the UK of King Edward 111, John of Gaunts father, and of both Katherine and John therefore we gently remind people this is not a genealogy site.<\/p>\n

Please get in touch with news, photographs plus your own views and, of course, join us on the Study Day if you are able which is open to non members. We look forward to hearing from you.<\/p>\n

Was this \u2018The Greatest Love Story in History\u2019 as described by Anya Seton and others? Or was it merely a marriage to legitimize the 4 children to create a great dynasty. There are many books written on Katherine\u2026\u2026and not all of them favourable.\u00a0 You decide.<\/p>\n

Why has there not been a film made of Katherine and John?\u00a0 Why not indeed.\u00a0 Film producers out there anyone?<\/p>\n
